SITE-WIDE EVENT PUZZLE PLIGHT
"Good morning campers and welcome to our very first challenge! A summer camp favourite, today's challenge is the Scavenger Hunt." "Around the island, our interns have hidden four red blocks and four green blocks. Bass, you're looking for red, Gophers are looking for green. Once you find all of your team's blocks, report back here." "You need all four to complete the challenge because each block has a piece of your team's logo on it. The first team to finish building their logo wins today's challenge!" Chris handed a piece of paper with a riddle on it to a member of each team. The clues to the first block's location is as follows: Gophers, your first clue is: I'm over but under, wet but dry, one of you may step on me tonight if you don't find me today. Wouldn't that be a shame?Bass, you clue is: I'm square, plastic and dusty. I keep sharp things in my mouth, so you might want to watch your hands. And just what is that fishy smell?[/blockquote] Rundown: Figure out where your team's first block is hidden. If your team can't figure out what the riddle means after five in-character posts, send me a PM and I'll give you another hint. You guys can start your own search thread once your team has figured out what the clue means. Just post a link in this thread so that your teammates know where everyone has disappeared to. I'll follow you guys and once you get close enough, I'll post the location of the puzzle piece and the clue that will tell you where the next one is hidden. Also, I wrote those myself, so google won't help any characters who may have managed to sneak in technology.[/blockquote]

Would she always have to sit with her team on challenge days? Most of them she wouldn't have a problem with usually, even if she'd never speak with them outside of the show. But this was a competition, and that could shape people into creatures usually different than themselves. For now, she'd have to put her friendship with Doxy and Axel aside and treat them like enemies.
Chris called for attention and, after explaining the challenge, held up two slips of paper. Flare, being closest to the host, stood to get it and returned to her team. "'I'm over but under, wet but dry, one of you may step on me tonight if you don't find me today. Wouldn't that be a shame?'" She turned the paper around in case Chris put a second message where they wouldn't usually look.
Only once she was satisfied did she hand the piece of paper to her teammates. "The way I see it, we should either look around the cabins or the campfire. It could refer to either us going to bed later tonight or us being around the campfire if we lose." The blond looked at the admittedly smartest member of the team, Noah. "What do you think, Egghead?"

MacKenzie was usually pretty good at riddles so this scavneger hunt shouldn't be too hard. Though she would have preferred a more physical challenge than a mental one. She shrugged it off, resigning to the fact that those would be left for later on in the competition. She wasn't on the best terms with her team as of yet. Most didn't seem to take much interest in wanting to know each other better. She shook her bangs from her eyes and stepped forward to glance at the card. Their first clue of the scavenger hunt. It seemed confusing, but she thought on it for a moment and glanced at Flare.
"No, I don't think it'd be either of those." She muttered to herself, but her tone was loud enough to be overheard. She crossed her arms over her chest and looked around the camp. Over but under, wet but dry. The cabins didn't seem to fit it, nor did the camp fire. That only left one choice. "The campsite would work but since we will be there tonight and it can be wet or dry. The cabins not so much since it's not really under anything, save the roof." She mused to herself. Hazel orbs glanced up and she hummed to herself in thought. Something just didn't add up in her mind. She figured they'd search there before anywhere else. She would let someone else figure out the clue on her team. She wasn't one who enjoyed riddles even if she wasn't bad at them.

Time for the first challenge and although Elizabeth could easily tell her team was going to be a bunch of losers that didn't mean she couldn't prove herself to be the biggest help to their team. So she would just do her best to make sure their team wins. Although the idea of her running around the island sort of repulsed her she figured since there was a riddle involved she could at least use her mind to figure this out.
That being said the first one to talk was miss flaming hairdo. She started talking about the campfire, but personally she thought she was way off base with this clue there was no way that could be right. Riddles were not easy per say and when they were they sort of had a distraction in them. Elizabeth recited the riddle in her mind and she noticed something. They riddle was all about opposites, but the main clue was the ending. The fact it would be a shame if they didn't find their clue. If they didn't find it one of them would be eliminated right? Well where do people go to when they are eliminated? Probably the dock right? So that was where Elizabeth thought of where they should go so she decided to speak up.
“If you want to win we should head to the dock. Its above water and below our feet, thus making it wet and dry at the same time, as for someone stepping on it if we don’t find it that would mean one of us would lose the game and be eliminated.” Elizabeth looked at her teammates and then went on, “So the dock sounds like the perfect place to go look for it wouldn't you agree?”

A challenge that actually required some mental ability to complete? His team had this one in the bag. With him on their team, how could they possibly lose a challenge like this? For someone with his intelligence, the silly riddle they got was easy. He'd pretty much solved it by the time he was finished going through it the first time. Fortunately, his teammates at least seemed intelligent enough to look to him for guidance through such a mentally strenuous challenge.
When Flare suggested they look to the cabins or the campfire, he could help raising an eyebrow at her. "You're kidding me, right?" She had to be joking. But then, there was a good reason she had asked him his opinion. Of course she needed his approval, he was the most intelligent member of the team, after all. And evidently, her puny brain could not handle the stress of a simple riddle.
Before Noah had the chance to answer and tell her how dumb he thought her answer was, another girl on their team did it for him, although perhaps more nicely than he would have. She pointed out the flawed logic of the girl with the streaks in her hair. And it seemed nobody was going to let Noah talk. Before he had the chance to give his two cents' worth, the dark-haired girl who'd insulted everyone the minute she'd stepped onto the island. Maybe this was an attempt at self-preservation, because he figured if they lost, she'd stand a good chance of being the first voted home tonight. She hadn't exactly started out on the best terms with everyone.
Noah smirked. "So I'm not the only one with a brain here." He deadpanned, looking from Elizabeth to MacKenzie. "I think she's right about trying the docks first."
OOC: Noah's ass-ness is finally starting to show. Feel free to smack him if he gets too lippy.

Prissy, in a bid to get as much screen-time as she could, had made a point of standing as close to Chris Mclean as she possible could without appearing out of place. Hey, more than just a hundred thousand dollars was on the line here. Her future career as a superstar movie actress was totally on the line too. She so needed as much screen-time as she could possibly get. When Chris handed out the riddles, Prissy was the closest and so she grabbed the Bass team's riddle for them.
She read it aloud to her team, then frowned in disgust. "Ew. We have to go somewhere that smells like fish? That is so nasty." she said, wrinkling her nose. "So. . . fish. Does that mean we've gotta go to the beach?"

The riddle wasn't all that hard, but the first thing that crossed Izzy's mind when she heard it was the bathroom. She was pretty sure that was wrong, so she kept trying to figure it out. Many times she came close, but her attention span was drawn towards a squirrel... or Flare's streaked hair.
She didn't agree with the campfire or the cabins, seeing as the wet part didn't make any sense, but when Elizabeth finally gave an answer that made sense to her, Izzy applauded. "Yay! We figured it out!" Her green eyes shimmered as she started laughing. "So, that means we have to go to the dock, now... right?" She glanced towards the other team to see how much progress they had made on their own riddle. It didn't seem as if they had been successful, yet. She smiled and glanced back towards Noah and Elizabeth. Even if the girl had thought she was clumsy (which... was all dependent on the situation, she had to admit), she was pretty smart.
"Wow... you're, like, really smart. Is that why your hair is so big?" Izzy asked Elizabeth. It wasn't such a difficult riddle, and Izzy was somewhat disappointed that it was Elizabeth who had guessed it. But, they were still on the same team, and that meant that they had to get to the next clue, no matter who figured it out. "Let's go rip that dock apart and search for the next clue. Detective Izzy is on the case!"

Serenity stood next to Prissy when the blonde reached for their clue. Her gray eyes darted to each member of the group, waiting for one of them to give the answer. She'd hoped that somebody would get it quickly, especially when she heard the red-head... Izzy... yell out where their clue led. She frowned and gestured at the group, frantically. If they didn't figure it out soon, then the challenge was going to be thrown for them.
Something struck in her, and she suddenly realized what the answer was. The beach was a possibility, but she highly doubted it. It wasn't square, and it wasn't dusty. No, it had to be something more like a box... or building of some sort. She waved at the group, trying to get their attention. It was times like these where she wished that she was able to speak and get their attention, but wildly-swinging sign language would have to do.
OOC: Feel free to ignore her, haha. She's used to it ^_^

Axel stood near the end of his group somewhat on the shy side since he never really made extended conversation with any of them yet. He made contact with Flare, but she was a gopher he wouldn't be able to talk to her very often and what if he did? His team may think he was trying to get them to lose and that wouldn't be a good thing right? For now he would just have to ignore Flare for the time being and concentrate on his own teammates.
So the challenge this week would be a scavenger hunt how fun! Axel loved a good riddle, but when Prissy read it to the team he was a bit confused. “Square, plastic, and dusty? What does that mean?” Axel had no clue where this clue could lead them so he looked to his teammate for support. Who knows maybe someone was really good at riddles on their team, but whom? That’s when Axel noticed Serenity flailing her arms. Was she speaking sign language? Axel didn't know sign language so he asked her, “what are you saying? I don’t know what those movements mean.”

Well, this was just great. The Gophers were ahead of them. Well, that was good for his friend Flare, but not good for himself. If the Gophers won, that meant that Flare would be safe from elimination, but also that he himself could be on the chopping block. While he didn't want Flare to get sent home, he didn't want to go home either. After all, one hundred thousand dollars was a lot of money.
Speaking of winning, he had a team that might not if he didn't contribute. The girl in pink who he'd had to hold back from punching out another girl on the first day - Prissy - read their team's riddle and made a comment on the fishy smell, while Axel focused on the box part of the riddle.
"So it's a box with a fishy smell. . ." Maddox said, puckering his lips as he pondered the riddle. "Maybe it's in the kitchen? There could be a box of fish. . ." Then he frowned. "But if it was in the kitchen, then it would be cardboard, not plastic."
And then the blonde girl, Serenity, started making gestures, attracting Axel's attention. Maddox looked at her as well, with a puzzled expression. Like Axel, he had no idea what Serenity was trying to express. He wasn't sure why she would act such a way instead of just telling them what she thought. . . unless she couldn't talk at all. Maddox frowned again. "You can't talk? Err. . . act it out for us?"

Flare internally pouted that none of them thought her idea had merit, but she decided that it wasn't worth fighting over. They'd just been the first ideas she had. The docks, though, made way more sense than the cabins or the campfire. The thought of going so close to her mortal enemy, though, made her gulp rather loudly. "Right... The docks... Near the water... Oh, this is gonna be fun..." she grumbled to herself, hoping no one was close enough to hear it.
It wasn't really something she was proud of, having a fear of one of the things needed to sustain life. The last thing she needed was Elizabeth finding out and taunting her about how she takes baths or showers. She got enough of that from school, her brother especially.
She tried to force her mind back to the riddle and spoke her thoughts out loud, not really sorting through them. "Docks do make more sense than that... Anyone know if the place we came is the only dock on the island? I wouldn't put Chris above putting the block in an area we haven't had the chance to explore."

Yes challenge time that meant Madelyn could show off her natural dancing abilities and gymnast skills. She would rock this……well until she found out it was a riddle. Although she was good at persuading people most of the time she wasn't the brightest bulb in the shed. Of course she knew this so she wasn't about to attempt to decipher the riddle anyways. Let her teammates do the mindless thinking and she will take action for them. That would be a perfect combination right?
So Madelyn stood there listening to hear teammates ramble on about where they could be going. Their voices started to get on her nerves why hadn't they figured it out yet? She looked around and she noticed one of her teammates wasn't doing anything so in her frustration she went over to him and yelled, “You are smart figure out this damn clue!” She said with dagger like eyes at victor.

Serenity immediately put her head in her hands. This was far more difficult than she had expected it to be. Actually, when she thought about it, she was surprised that they were waiting on her for an answer. It actually felt good for the spotlight to be on her for something other than her music. She smiled at them and cleared her throat. It's time to play charades like Dad and you do... she thought to herself.
Serenity stepped back and held up two fingers. Two words... She glanced at them all to make sure that they were paying attention before placing three fingers on her arm. Three syllables She paused again, glancing over her shoulder at the group that was ahead of them. You have to act quicker than that.
Her legs spread apart and she mimed the shape of a box. Setting the "box" down, she picked up an invisible stick-like object and swung it in front of her like a fishing pole. Immediately, she began to "reel-it-in." She shrugged up at them, waiting for them to tell her that she was either crazy, or to to agree with her.

Bridgette tapped her finger on her chin, rattling her brain over the riddle. Admittedly, she wasn't the smartest person, so she was glad that the other members were throwing out guesses before there came an awkward silence. Bridgette smiled at the campfire suggestion because that was where they had to go for the elimination ceremony. She then realized that it couldn't really be wet and dry.
"Oh, that makes sense", she said lightly, not really talking to anyone in particular. She was relieved to have someone intelligent like Elizabeth in her team. That Noah kid seemed intelligent as well. He was a little abbrasive at times but Bridgette thought they could be friends. Izzy seemed to be fun too, so she walked over to her and smiled. "You're right, Izzy. Let's make our way over", she said as she shot Izzy a bright smile. She really missed her friends back home, but this competition just started, so it should be fun.
