The Boat House. Oh, how would Ella describe the Boat House? A breeding ground for mold and dust? A decrepit building that could be felled by a breeze? Or, perhaps, a spider-infested creepy shed. This was the kind of building killers lured their victims to before hacking them to pieces. Honestly, she was kind of surprised it didn't have an ominous black cloud hanging out it and striking lightning in frequent intervals.
Ella would, however, totally understand if none of the others wanted to investigate. It probably wouldn't be a pretty picture inside. "Anyone with asthma or allergies to mold or dust might want to stay out here for a bit. We don't know if or when this place was last cleaned out." she said warningly to them all. Then she pushed the door, and it opened with an ominous creak.

Leshawna arived shortly after Ella and hesitated to enter the dusty shack. She wasn't really sure of it's condition and was surprised that it was still standing. It looked like if you took one step inside, the whole thing would collapse on whoever was the idiot who disturbed the weak building. Leshawna slowly followed as her teammate opened the door and looked around.
"What kind of messed up host puts a clue in here?", Leshawna said aloud as she scanned the boat house. It wasn't very large, but there were a lot of objects in there that could be hiding the clue. There was a possibility that it wasn't even inside the boat house. Leshawna shrugged and scuurried over to a large crate and started sorting through it, her competitive nature taking over. There was no way she was going home on the first challenge.

Ella heard her team filter in after her. She hoped the ones with health problems remembered their inhaler. She didn't know CPR, and she wasn't sure if any of the others did. For some reason, Ella doubted it. "Our host, apparently." she said dryly to the other girl. What was her name, Leshawna? Ella turned her head to ask, but she was already digging through a crate.
After a moment, Ella shrugged. She'd learn it eventually, without asking. But there was barely any light to see with, aside from what the door let through. The windows were all grubbed up with dust and dirt and dead insects. Ella attempted to proceed further into the boat house, but stumbled over something. It was a crowbar, and Ella suddenly had an idea. "Can anyone see a ladder? I wanna try and get us some more light by getting on to the roof and prying a few boards loose."
She picked up the crowbar to show how she'd do it. Something crawled over her hand and Ella had to strain her eyes to see what it was. Eight beady eyes stared back at her. The staring contest between her and the spider lasted for all of five seconds before she yelped and dropped the crowbar, flailing her arm with a chorus of, "GETITOFFGETITOFFGETITOFFGETITOFF!"

Trent followed her team to the boat house where the clue apparently was. The Killer Bass didn't really have much competitors which was a little sad. Trent was competitive, probably not as much as some of those crazy members from the Screaming Gophers. He was going to try his hardest in the challenges to at the very least curry favor from his teammates. He was fairly athletic and smart, so he had a good chance of staying a long time here.
He arrived just in time to hear someone screaming and running around. "Woah, woah! Here, let me get it", he said to his fellow Bass and trying to get her to calm down. She was really fast and agile, which shook him a little. Also, she was carrying around a crowbar and swinging it as she flailed her arms. "Any ideas, Leshawna?", he called out as he noticed the girl was still preoccupied with the crate she was sifting through.

Serenity followed the Bass into the boathouse. Ella was right... it was very dark and rather scary, but she didn't let that bother her. The smell, however, was a whole different category. She could have sworn that there was a tank full of dead fish at the back of the room, somewhere. Perhaps a new chef wasn't all that this placed needed...
The door shut behind her, loudly, and she jumped, nearly knocking herself into Leshawna. The room was pitch black, for a moment, and she hurried to open it again. By the time she got back to the group, they were trying to solve their light problem in another way. Serenity stood beside Ella and watched as she picked up a crowbar. She was surprised that she was able to remember everybody's names, but she assumed that had to do with her musical memory. Anything she heard stuck with her.
Suddenly, Ella started swinging around the crowbar. Serenity found herself too close, but she ducked and backed away so that she wasn't hit. Unfortunately, she wasn't able to watch where she was going and found herself covered in worms with a bucket over her head. She brushed off the worms, but she was almost too embarrassed to take off the bucket and show her face. Instead, she slowly lifted it until she was peeking out from under it.

Ella suddenly became aware of other people around her, one of which was trying to get her to calm down so he could pick off the spider. Ella froze and allowed Trent to get to the spider. She trembled slightly, feeling the creepy crawly crawl on her arm. "I hate spiders. They creep me out. Seriously, no creature in the world needs that many eyes or that many legs!"
A clang made her momentarily forget her own distress to look over to Serenity. The blond mute had backed into a shelf to dodge Ella's flailing and a bucket of worms had overturned on her. Serenity brushed them all off, but seemed to not want to face anyone else from embarrassment. Ella knew that feeling well, and when her teammate slowly peaked out from under the bucket, the redhead gave her a friendly smile. "Ick. Suddenly a little spider doesn't seem so bad."

This was useless! Leshawna's eyes had slightly adjusted to the darkness because they were in there long enough, but she still couldn't see or feel any block that was supposed to be in this room. Shrugging, she stood and turned when she heard Trent call her name. She noticed Ella flailing around but stopping to let Trent take care of her little spider problem. Leshawna shared the same fare of the creepy crawlies. They may be small, but that was most of the problem! She then heard a crash as Serenity fell then stood with a bucket on her head, worms being wiped off of her. Leshawna rushed over to help her teammate since it seemed like no one else was going to.
"Girl, you alright?", she asked as more of rhetoric question, knowing she wasn't going to get an audible answer. It was also too dark to try and read her sign language. "Don't worry about it, there's going to be much worse things happening to the others. Especially Heather and Prissy[/color]", she said as she looked around and noticed the two missing. Maddox was missing as well. Probably all talking about nonsense as they moseyed towards the boat house. She gave Serenity an encouraging smile and nod then made her way to Ella to try and figure out how to get the light source. "Any luck?", she asked as she already knew the answer was no. She just wanted to encourage Ella to keep trying.

Serenity's blush faded and she smiled up at the two girls. How lucky had she been to be put on the same team as friendly as the girls were. In her school, she would have been laughed at, but here she felt strangely accepted. She stood up and brushed the worms gently back into the bucket and sat it aside. It really was important for them to find their clue. They were the last to leave the mess hall, so who knew how far behind they were now?
She reached up towards a small window covered in cloth and pulled the dusty fabric off. A cloud of dust flew into the air as she did so, but at least there was more light. As nice as Ella was, Serenity found it best to avoid the girl in such a small space, so she was going to try to be as useful as she could from the sidelines.
With the new stream of light, Serenity could tell that the walls were covered with hooks and lures. On the back wall, which wasn't as bright, she saw large sillhouettes, which she assumed were life boats and canoes. The floor was littered with hooks and splintered wood, so she was surprised that nobody had stepped on it yet. Perhaps because the hooks were flat and not pointed upwards. Right next to the window, ironically, was a ladder with missing rungs. She picked it up, carefully, and wobbled towards the others to show them what she had found.

When Serenity's mishap caused Ella to be distracted, Trent took this as a golden opportunity to grab the spider and run back towards where he thought the door was. Missing it by a few inches, Trent slammed into the door and fell onto the ground. The pounding in his head signalled that he had hit the wall face first and looked up in time to see the room finally become somewhat illuminated. Serenity had pulled a dusty cloth and managed to get some light into the poorly constructed shack. Trent slowly sat up as he rubbed his forehead and chuckled nervously. It was more embarassing than it was painful, so he dusted himself off and continued to look around.
He saw that Serenity had retrieved a ladder, so he would leave her and Ella to search up near the higher areas. He shrugged and walked over to the makeshift shelf which contained various fishing equipment. The stench of old fish was so strong here that Trent almost gagged five times. He then noticed a large fish bin filled to the brim with who-knows-how-long fish bait that confirmed the smell in the boat house. "I really hope it's in here", Trent said as he blocked his nose with one hand and fished around in the bin for the other. His logic was that Chris would probably hide in either the most inconspicuous or the most disgusting place he could find.

She silently thanked Trent when he plucked the spider off of her arm while she responded to Leshawna. "Not on my end. The place isn't very big though, so it shouldn't take long to spread out and search." She heard a loud smack and looked over towards the entrance to the shack. Trent was rubbing his head and dusting himself off, so Ella deduced that he'd run into the door trying to get rid of the spider. 'Points for him. I'd have just killed the dang thing.'
Serenity pulled the cloth down from the window, but there still wasn't enough light. That's when the mute girl pulled over the ladder she'd found. It was rickety and didn't look very steady... Ella smiled in thanks anyway. "Nice find, hon. Don't take this the wrong way, but are you strong enough to hold it steady while I climb to the roof?" Ella eyed Serenity's arms for a single hint of muscle, but didn't see any. [/blockquote]

Serenity thought that it was brave for Trent to save the spider instead of squishing it. She offered him a small smile, but winced when she heard a thunk. Did he run into a post? Was he okay? For a moment, she considered walking over to check on him, but she heard him talk from somewhere else, so he had to have been alright.
Ella asked her a question, and she turned. The way the girl sounded wasn't exactly rude, but she was probably right. Serenity was quick with her reflexes after several years of piano and flute, but she was never all that strong. It was one of the reasons that she didn't play tubas when she was standing up, but was holding a ladder still when someone as small as Ella shouldn't be such a feat, right? She smiled at Ella and nodded, but wasn't so sure herself.

Leshawna nodded in response to Ella's comment. She was right. The boat house was small. Trouble was, it was bombarded with odds and ends and infinite amount of places for Chris to hide the clue. She heard a loud crash and winced when she saw Trent on the ground. "Ouch! You alright, dude?", she asked but noticed his quick recovery and jumping right back into the challenge. She smiled and had much more respect for him. Especially when he started sifting through the fish bait. There was no way was getting anywhere near those worms. Especially with the new weave she had just got prior to arriving onto Camp Wawanakwa. She would leave the dirty work as she returned her attention to Ella and Serenity who seemed to have a plan involving and no-so-secure ladder.
Leshawna was about to interject and offer her services, but thought that she should try and let Serenity hold the ladder. She didn't to make Serenity think that she didn't think Serenity could handle it. Plus, three out of four members searching in the same place was illogical. She shrugged nd went over to the kayaks which were haphazardly placed along the wall. Perhaps they were inside one of them. Leshawna reached inside the first one and felt something weird inside. It was a little bigger than she thought the block would be but she pulled it out anyway. Eyes widenening and a loud scream coming out, she tossed the dead fish that she had pulled out and frantically wiped her hands on a random rag that was sitting near the shelf. "Chris is gonna PAY for this!", Leshawna exclaimed as she skeptically eyed the rest of the boats.

Heather absolutely REFUSED to go inside that shack. It was dirty, dark, and probably had several diseases just in the doorway alone. Besides, there was nothing that said the clue was INSIDE that nasty place. It could have been in the boxes or boats outside, but she was going to let those losers glance around in doors. There would be more clues for her to prove herself in... hopefully less dirty ones.
"Let's see... where would Chris put a clue.." Probably inside the most disgusting thing possible. Like... the building. Heather rolled her eyes and opened a barrel full of fish. "Is this what chef uses to cook meals? That's disgusting." She reached into the barrel and felt around, but there was no luck. She was actually grateful that her top didn't have any sleeves. When she pulled her arm out, she shivered in disgust. She quickly put the lid back on and winced. Maybe the roof? That was probably the most dangerous place in the area.
Heather pushed the barrels together and climbed up until she reached the edge of the roof. She may not have been the most athletic on the team, but she had enough strength to hoist herself up onto the shingles. When she had thought dangerous before, it was an understatement. The roof was extremely unstable, and her left foot sent a few shingles flying. She managed to regain her balance, but suddenly this didn't seem like such a good idea...

Trent kept searching around in the fish bait bin, determined to find the clue. He wanted to prove that he was a good asset to the team and that they shouldn't kick him off. He hadn't really been mingling with his teammates, so that put him further down the food chain. Finding the clue would help him sky rocket to the top. He wanted to get as far as possible in the game. He didn't come here to be the first eliminated. He then felt a small block and quickly pulled it out with rejoice. Shaking off the excess bait he then noticed it was a decoy. It was a white colored block with no significant meaning. "Oh, come on!", he shouted as he threw the meaningless block back into the bin, splashing himself in the face with the fish bait. He gritted his teeth as it slowly dripped down his face. First, he crashed into the wall, and now this? They had better find this clue soon or Trent was going to flip! And he rarely did that. He always took life as it came. Never took anything serious. But that didn't mean he was going to take this competition serious. He wanted to prove to everyone back home that he could do it!
Taking a few deep breaths, he wiped his face clean with his hands and noticed a leg dangling through the window. It was barely visible, so it was just luck that he saw it. He noticed everyone else was busy, so he decided to investigate. "Oh, Heather. It's you", he said calmly but noticed that she may have taken offense. Especially since most of the heat in the Bass would be directed at her. He heard her and Leshawna exchange a few words to each other when he walked by the cabin, but didn't want to get caught up in it. "Need some help?", he genuinely offered then started to realize her strategy. Of course. Chris never specified that the clue would be inside the shack. Trent smirked and nodded as he was impressed with Heather's tactics, though she should've shared her thoughts with the rest of the team. This wasn't an individual challenge, it was a team effort.

Heather looked down at the guitar playing "Mr. Mysterious" and rolled her eyes. She calmly stood up, her legs shaking, but she made a decent effort to hide her imbalance. "Oh, I'm fine. Really. I just figured that if everyone was looking inside, I may as well check around out here. Besides, I'm sure it's getting even stuffier in there with so many people. I'd be of more use out here, so run along."
For a moment, Heather thought that what she had said sounded rude, and while normally she wouldn't have cared, she knew that the bass were behind and that Leshawna would be sure to put Heather up first... especially after what had happened in the cabins. "Actually, you know what you could do? You could get me a ladder to make this easier. Surely there's one inside the sh-ACK!"
Right as she finished talking, a shingle slipped out from under Heather's foot and she fell backwards, landing on her rear with outstretched arms. As she slid, she reached for something to grab, but she only managed to get a grip on loose shingles. When she reached the edge, it felt as if she hovered in the air for a moment before dropping into an open fish barrel and submerging her head under the fishy water.
Heather tipped the barrel over and slid herself out with a square-shaped rock in her hand. It took a moment to realize that it wasn't a brick, but when she did, she was angry. "Oh, Come on!" she practically yelled. She chucked the rock as hard as she could at the roof of the building and it smashed through the roof.
